The regional Super Absorbent Polymers (SAP) Market demand in Asia-Pacific has been estimated to grow at a CAGR of 7.5% during the forecast period. Most of the demand for SAP in the region is from baby diapers applications with 84.9% of the total SAP demand followed by sanitary napkins with 6.2% market share followed by adult incontinence products with a market share 5.7%. The SAP market is estimated to be around 1560.7 kilo tons and has grown from 1064.6 kilo tons in 2014.

Super absorbent Polymers demand is expected to be strong especially in countries with large populations such as China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam. In the long-term forecast, the demand growth for SAP in the region is estimated to grow on accounts of increased growth from baby diapers and other personal and hygiene products. 

India is acknowledged for its high potential in SAP demand due to the low penetration of the disposable diaper while China has already attracted significant capital investments in acrylic acid and SAP plants. SAP demand in China has grown significantly owing to high growth in domestic demand. The SAP market in China is fragmented with more than 9 players which include smaller to big-size companies. The larger companies have only set up manufacturing plants in the last five to ten years to cater to the growing domestic demand. The strong demand of baby diapers in the Asian region will also benefit the Middle East region which exports substantial volume of diapers and other SAP based products to Asia-Pacific.
