Thermoplastic polyamide elastomers (TPA) are a versatile class of materials that combine the characteristics of both thermoplastics and elastomers. The commercially most important TPA are polyether-amide block copolymers (PEBA). TPA Demand by Application

The major applications of thermoplastic polyamide elastomers include use in sporting/leisure goods (i.e., winter sports and high-end athletic and running shoes), automotive parts/components, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, polymer modification, wire and cable jacketing and tubing, other electrical/electronic uses, medical applications, and miscellaneous consumer product parts.

TPAs offer advantages over conventional rubber materials, including easy processing, recyclability, and cost-effectiveness. They are used to manufacture various components for sports equipment, such as ski boot liners, kayak seats, and swim fins. Its ability to mold into complex shapes allows for customization and improved performance and shock-absorbing properties help reduce impact forces and protect athletes from injuries during sports activities.

In 2025, automotive application segment was estimated to be the leading consumer accounting for over 45% of the global TPA market. During the forecast period, the demand for TPA in automotive application is poised to register a CAGR 4.5%.

TPA is commonly used in the automotive sector for manufacturing weather seals, gaskets, and under-the-hood components. Its excellent resistance to chemicals, oils, and high temperatures makes it a preferred material for automotive applications. TPA's versatility, along with its mechanical, chemical, and electrical properties, makes it a valuable material for various automotive applications, contributing to improved performance, safety, and comfort in vehicles.

TPA is also used for manufacturing seals and gaskets in the automotive sector. These components require good flexibility and elasticity to ensure proper sealing and resistance to environmental factors like temperature fluctuations, oils, and chemicals. TPA is utilized in interior components such as dashboard covers, handles, and knobs. The sporting goods application segment was estimated to be second biggest consumer accounting for over 20% of the total TPA market. It is also commonly used to make grips and handles for sporting equipment like tennis rackets, golf clubs, hockey sticks, and bicycle handlebars. Its soft, rubber-like feel provides users with a comfortable and non-slip grip.

All other applications including Industrial, Medical and Others together accounted for nearly 35% of the global TPA market. Of this Industrial application is one of major consumer and in the long-term forecast period TPA demand is estimated to register a CAGR of 3.8%.
