China PTFE Export Markets

China’s net exports for PTFE was observed to be increasing significantly from 2.9 KT in 2005 to 18.7 KT in 2017 due to significant capacity additions. China has increased its export volumes by lowering the resin prices in comparison to other global manufacturers. The top five export destinations for PTFE produced in China include South Korea, Italy,USA, Belgium and Japan. The demand for high quality PTFE in China has been steady since 2005 and the resins for such high end applications are imported from Japan and USA. USA and Japan are home to one of the leading fluoropolymers players such as Daikin, Solvay, Chemours and AGC chemicals.

Top PTFE Importers (From China)

During the global economic crisis the North American imports as well as production dropped significantly. The total USA imports declined by 2.1 KT in 2009 in comparison to previous year. The imports increased by 7.3 KT in 2010 overcoming the recessionary period. Similar scenario was observed in Western Europe where the demand grew at lower level in 2008 further declining in 2009. Sectors like automotive and building &construction were mainly affected during economical crisis which affected the demand for PTFE in North America and Western Europe. Country like South Korea showed no effect on their PTFE imports whereas; Japan showed a sharp decline in PTFE imports from China.
