Key Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) Manufacturers

PPS resin manufactures are concentrated in particular countries.Japan, U.S. and China are the resin manufacturing countries. China Lumena New Materials Corp. (Company) acquired the PPS business of Sino Polymer Co. Ltd.which had two manufacturing facilities with combined capacity of 30,000 metric tons. The company was scheduled to further expand these capacities and have a combined capacity of over 50,000 metric tons to be the world’s largest PPS manufacturer. But the company had highly inflated its volume sales and revenues and has been delisted from the Hong Kong stock exchange. Considering the capacity of Sino Polymers, China Lumena has the largest capacity and leads with a market share of 22.7% followed by Solvay SA with a share of 15.1%. DIC has market share of 14.4% with resin manufacturing sites in Japan and compounding plants in Austria, Japan and China. To ray industries started operations at its new vertically integrated manufacturing capacity in Ulsan, South Korea. The company holds a share of 14.4% in the PPS market and has further scheduled expansions for its resin manufacturing plant. The Chinese players together hold a market of 27.2% and further expansions are scheduled in the country, due to increasing demand.
