BASF is set to acquire Solvay’s Polyamide (PA) business for Euro1.6 billion. Solvay is an integrated manufacturer of Polyamides and has plants in Shanghai, China; Onsan, South Korea; Freiburg, Germany; Ceriano, Italy; StFons, France; and Sao Paulo, Brazil with a total capacity of around 324 KT. After the completion of this deal in Q3 2018 BASF’s total PA capacity will be around 1,114 KT. Polyamide business is growing above GDP at around ~3.5%.
